If your iPod nano isn't responding to clicks and won't play music, it's probably frozen. That problem's annoying, but it's not very serious. Resetting your iPod nano is pretty simple and takes just a few seconds. How you do it depends on which model you have.
Apple discontinued the iPod Nano on July 27, 2017.
How to Reset the 7th Gen. iPod Nano
The 7th generation iPod nano looks like a shrunken iPod touch and is the only nano that offers features like a multitouch screen, Bluetooth support, and a Home button. The way you reset it is also unique (though resetting the 7th generation nano will be familiar if you've used an iPhone or iPod touch):
- Press and hold the Hold button (in the top right corner) and the Home button (on the bottom front) at the same time.
- When the screen goes dark, let go of both buttons.
- In another few seconds, the Apple logo appears, which means the nano is restarting. In a few seconds, you'll be back at the main screen, ready to go.
How to Restart the 6th Gen. iPod nano
Identify the 6th generation nano by its design characteristics.
If you need to restart your 6th gen. nano, follow these steps:
- Hold down both the Sleep/Wake button (the one on the top right) and the Volume Down button (the one on the far left). You'll need to do this for at least 8 seconds.
- The screen will go dark as the nano restarts.
- When you see the Apple logo, you can let go; the nano is starting up again.Nissan consult ii software free. Nissan DataScan II 2.53 is free to download from our software library. - If this doesn't work, repeat from the beginning. A few tries should do the trick.
How to Reset 1st-5th Gen. iPod nano
Resetting the early iPod nano models is similar to the technique used for the 6th gen. model, though the buttons are slightly different.
Before doing anything else, make sure that your iPod's hold button isn't on. This is the little switch at the top of the iPod nano that can 'lock' the iPod's buttons. When you lock the nano, it won't respond to clicks, which makes it appear to be frozen. You'll know that the hold button is on if you see a little orange area near the switch and a lock icon on the screen. If you see either of these indicators, move the switch back and see if this fixes the problem. If the nano isn't locked:
- Slide the hold switch to the On position (so that the orange appears) and then move it back to Off.
- Hold down both the Menu button on the click wheel and the center button at the same time. Press them for 6-10 seconds. This should reset the iPod nano. You'll know it's restarting when the screen darkens and then the Apple logo appears.
- If this doesn't work the first time, repeat the steps.
What to Do If Resetting Didn't Work
The steps to restart a nano are simple, but what if they didn't work? There are two things you should try at that point:
- Plug your iPod nano into a power source (like your computer or a wall outlet) and let it charge for an hour or so. It could be that the battery is simply run down and needs to recharge.
- If you've charged the nano and tried all the reset steps, and your nano still doesn't work, you may have a bigger problem than you can solve on your own. Contact Apple to get more help.

The Apple iPod nano (Fifth Generation/Video Camera) features an aluminum and glass case -- just like the iPod nano (4th Generation) that it replaced -- but the nine colors offered -- silver, black, purple, blue, green, yellow, orange, pink, and (PRODUCT) RED Special Edition -- have a 'glossy', rather than matte, finish. It has a larger, higher-quality 2.2' TFT display (240x376, 204 ppi), and an integrated microphone and speaker as well.
For storage, it uses either 8 GB or 16 GB of flash memory, capable of supporting 2000 or 4000 songs, 7000 or 14,000 photos, and 8 hours or 16 hours of video, respectively.
Beyond the glossy finish, larger display, and audio capabilities, the iPod nano (5th Generation) also gains a video camera -- capable of shooting H.264 VGA 640x480 at 30 FPS with AAC audio (it cannot take still photographs) with a variety of basic real-time effects -- a built-in FM Radio with 'live pause' (allowing one to pause and rewind up to fifteen minutes) and 'iTunes tagging' (tag a song on the radio for later purchase on iTunes), an integrated pedometer that tracks steps and calories burned, VoiceOver technology -- previously introduced by the iPod shuffle (3rd Generation) -- to speak the name of tracks and artists to you, and 'Genius Mixes', which makes an effort to 'find songs that go great together'.
Battery life for music is 24 hours and 5 hours for video playback, equal to the 'fat' iPod nano (3rd Generation) rather than the iPod nano 4th Generation which had reduced battery life.
Note that the color yellow -- likely due to lower demand -- as well as (PRODUCT) RED only were available direct from Apple.
